Honey and Olives, Somber and Sober

Alex Mascarenhas's picture

I like to snack on olives
I like healthy treats
But, hon, do you even care
What a dead man eats
It’s midnight, I remember now
Knew a man who drove a hearse
Always happy, day in, day out
Carrying the dead’s no curse
High noon, I forget the time
I met a dead man once, a dunce
He walked with another’s legs
Feet backward, missed the chance to dance
See, a dead one walks
While the living rest
The sky could be loud
When you are not blessed
And it seems I lost my way here
My pen knows not north
Olives and honey do not mix
That’s the truth henceforth
