Hole in the Whole

I looked deep, deep into the whole

And the bottom was there, so close

The bottom… so close… could’ve just swallowed me

Its black teeth, so sharp, smiled wide full of glee

And the slope to the hole was steep

And we eloped to the hope like sheep

And groped to the thin rope, so cheap

And soaped the dirty soul… Don’t weep!

Aberration! – I heard said

Keep one’s hands clean, yet they rot

Hole in the soul; the whole is oh, so, so shallow

Keep your ears shut; your neck is there, in the gallows
