In time of crisis extreme ideas tend to gain adherence. Desperate humans are inclined to believe the radical rhetoric and extravagant promises, hoping, like a junkie, for a quick fix. Necessity, anguish and desperation are a perfect breeding soil for extremist leaders who, through their luring but deceiving speech, may gain numerous followers from among the deprived.
As I was writing in my previous post, there's a great comfort in assigning blame and loading the issues onto someone else's shoulders. It's always someone's fault and the guilty verdict must be reached rather quickly. And, just like that, our anguish will vanish. False. Just our anger was quenched for a moment by feeding our famine for retaliation. The scapegoat percept propels our desperation to lower depths not to greater deeds.
Like the rationale of the extremist leader, the principles of our societies are a sophism. A quick glance at our recent past reveals the erroneous road we were and, how sadistically we push ourselves onto the same path. This is like a bad joke where the punch line it's a sledgehammer falling over our teeth… repeatedly. And that's because we are associating ourselves with a group instead of being a part of one kind. In order to exist, we must accept one another and not to have our community continuously trying to prevail over another. Yes, the system is corrupt but it doesn't have to be rectified through fundamentalist ideology.
Every and each revolution that happened had defeated its purposes. Changing names or forms with new ones it is not revolution, it's semantics.
The tragedy becomes solemn when we know all these flaws yet we embrace them. We know that the banking system is nothing more than a loan shark – they do not have the money only the interest we are paying them for things we should already have. The list of examples can continue without a stop. Literally. So, why do we keep supporting on our shoulders a system that enslaves us? Why are we radical, demagogues and opportunists? I wish I had a one sentence answer. I wish we were not so fucking stupid. I wish hypocrisy was a simple virus so we could eradicate it with a pill, organic or not.
