This page sets out what happens to your work when you send it to iExile, and what we ask of you in return. For quick answers to common questions, see our Submission FAQ.
The rights you keep
When iExile accepts a piece, we ask for first publication rights and a continuing, non-exclusive right to keep the work available in the iExile online archive. Copyright remains with the author. After first publication, you are free to republish the work anywhere, in any form, with acknowledgment that it first appeared in iExile.
iExile is both a living magazine and a permanent archive: a published work stays readable and citable here for the long term. If you ever need to discuss removal or correction of a published piece, write to us; removal requests are considered case by case.
Simultaneous submissions
We welcome simultaneous submissions — send your work to other magazines at the same time if you wish. We ask only that you tell us it is also under consideration elsewhere, and that you withdraw it promptly if it is accepted by someone else. A short note to us is all it takes.
Previously published work
If your work has appeared elsewhere — in print, online, or in another language — tell us where when you submit. We consider previously published work and translations case by case.
After acceptance
If we accept your work, we will be in touch about publication and will let you know when it is live on iExile.com. Published work joins the magazine and its author’s page in our archive.
What we ask of you
Send us your own work. Send work you have the right to share. And be reachable at the address you submit with, so that we can give you our decision — and reach you if your work is chosen.
