Short answers to the questions writers ask us most. For the fuller picture, see our Editorial Policy and Submission Ethics & Rights.

How do I submit to iExile?

All submissions come through our submission portal. There is nothing to download and nothing to post — upload your work, tell us a little about it, and send. There is no fee.

What kinds of writing does iExile publish?

Poetry, fiction, short stories, essays, satire, plays, screenplays, translations, and fragments. We have no house style; we look for writing that is alive on the page.

Is there a fee to submit?

No. iExile does not charge a reading or submission fee.

How long will it take to hear back?

We aim to respond to every submission within 30 days. If more time passes, you are welcome to write and ask.

Do you accept simultaneous submissions?

Yes. Send your work to other magazines at the same time if you wish — just tell us it is also under consideration, and withdraw it promptly if it is accepted somewhere else.

Can I send more than one piece?

Yes, but send only your strongest work. If you are submitting multiple pieces, keep the submission focused and easy to read.

Can I submit work that has appeared elsewhere?

Tell us where it appeared — in print, online, or in another language — when you submit. We consider previously published work and translations case by case.

Do you accept AI-generated work?

No. Send us work written by you. If you used AI tools in a limited assistive way — for proofreading, formatting, or accessibility — disclose that when you submit.

What rights does iExile ask for?

First publication rights, plus a continuing, non-exclusive right to keep the work in the iExile archive. Copyright stays with you. After we publish, you are free to republish the work anywhere, with a note that it first appeared in iExile.

What happens if my work is accepted?

We will be in touch about publication and will let you know when the work is live on iExile.com. It then joins the magazine and your author page in our archive.

How do I withdraw a submission?

Write to us through the contact address or reply to the submission thread — a short note is all it takes. Please withdraw your work promptly if it is accepted elsewhere.

Do you publish translations?

Yes. We treat translation as an art in its own right and welcome it across languages. When you submit, tell us about the source text, original author, original language, and whether you have permission to translate and publish the translation.
