A Pledge to Meet in September
Boneless and beautiful, the equinox morning seems ready
and open for restoring balance, a moment of clarity,
maybe a chance to find whatever health I’ve recently lost
Nothing is filled yet, so little is set, the sun and the shadows
respect one another and divide the street equally,
everything is visible without the danger of a wayward glare
In the air, there is just enough noise to keep it interesting,
no bass shakes the focus, no siren makes a spectacle
of itself while tackling this well-regulated stillness either
The perfect opening for a bard to come in, and conjure up
A storm that echoes yesterday’s messy atmosphere
While serving as a prelude for tomorrow’s uneasy horrors
