Wax

Light a candle and curse the darkness
as I drip away like scented wax.
Counter-clockwise, you rinse our memory
down with the sweat of Belo Horizonte
like you don’t care anymore.
What bothers me most
is you never did.

So I light a candle to curse your darkness
as I solidify, a puddle on the floor.
You sit there quietly
on the other side of the world,
spoils of my love
decorating your life.
What bothers me most
is you never died.

So I light a candle and curse the darkness
I will become
by the time the wick has burned.
