Make-Believe

A wise man proportions his belief to the evidence – David Hume

Honestly, I’m just an amateur believer.
I don’t make a living out of my beliefs.
I prefer to believe just for the fun of it.

It would be nice to get paid to believe
but where do you even start with that?
You’d likely need certificates and shit.

I can believe most things, given time:

In stories; in baby steps; in saying no; in the fact that we’re not alone; in the fact that they’re coming for us and now is the time. I believe in me; you—sometimes; in letting people in, go, or be; in second chances; in fresh starts. And I absolutely believe things happened exactly the way I remember them.

What’s hardest is when the believee
expects you to believe in them more
than you need to believe in anything.
I mean, God is just the neediest.
