Whispers of Living Dust

Recognition or (re)cognition persistent patterns
of thought energy we sometimes call self
or sometimes self-delusion. Observers,

nonetheless, the space between our atoms
interact, transform like moving pictures
at a matinee. Natural wonders that seek

connections, essence of beauty, that first kiss,
that last goodbye, that day we repeat over again
like our favorite song. The tree stump’s fingerprint,

the swans’ flight, the philosophy of performance
on a stage where we all act in fragmentation.
Nucleotides compose genome-poem on the

me-canvas, an offspring of many past seasons.
We are colonies that share a petri dish,
find meaning in protein, watch the pen

dance on text as if the show will last forever.
Each act but one fruit on one tree in one forest
where pleasure and pain dress in chromosomes.
