Imagine
if we assumed humanity first;
if we held our other descriptors,
our demands about where from and why—
our gaze interested in blood,
and all its fractions.
Imagine if we assumed
there was enough to go around;
didn’t decide who the people were
based on what we thought
we could spare.
Imagine if we assumed
all people need shelter, food,
and hope, above and beyond all that.
Imagine if we
made our decisions to match.
